How this works
A typical aluminum storefront door hangs on a top pivot, a bottom pivot or floor closer, or a continuous geared hinge. Because a glass leaf is heavy, the pivot bushings and fasteners carry a lot of load, and wear shows up as the door slowly dropping at the latch edge. That drop is why a door that used to close cleanly begins to scrape or miss the strike.
The lock is usually a narrow-stile deadlatch or a mortise lock with a mortise cylinder, sometimes paired with a thumbturn or an exit device. Misalignment between the lock and the strike or keeper is among the most common reasons a storefront door will not secure properly, even when the lock itself is fine.

Repair or replace?

Why does my storefront glass door drag on the floor?
Usually the door has dropped because a pivot, bushing or hinge has worn or its fasteners have loosened. Sometimes the closer arm or a bent leaf contributes. The fix depends on which part has failed, so the first step is finding it.
Can a storefront door be repaired without replacing the glass?
Often yes. Door drag, latch problems, closer issues and lock problems are generally hardware issues. Cracked or damaged glass is a different repair.
